Life of Guangzhou
Hi everybody,
This message is intended to all the foreigners in Guangzhou who would like to get a legal driving license. My wife and I got it recently and it's not that easy. You either have to ask a driving school or do it all by yourself. In both cases, lots of problems in perspective for those who speak little or no little chinese.
The good thing is that if you already have a foreign license for more than three years, you only have to take (and pass) a theorical test to get your license.
We first asked help from a driving school. The cheapest one asked for 1500 yuan and for that price you would only get the list of questions and a ride to the office in charge of driving license for foreigners, that's all.
We found others who, for a price of 5000 yuan, promised you a license without even taking the exam... We didn't insist much...
We did it by ourselves. The test in itself is rather easy (my wife made one mistake for 100 questions, I made none), but the whole process to get to the exam room is rather complicated...
So we decided we could be able to help foreigners who would like to drive in China. We can make all the necessary formalities for you. This applies to people whose visa's validity is more than three months long, who already own a driving license from their respective country and who actually have it with them in China.
Formalities are :
- chinese translation of your license, passport and visa
- official certification of translation from a notary office
- photos taken by an photographer with official agreement
- medical check-up
- administrative formalities at the driving license office
the first and second ones must be done in advance and we can handle them by ourselves. The remaining three will be done on the day of exam and you should, of course, be there...
We will accompany you throughout the day, from the filling of your form and the necessary visits to different desks, to the examination room itself.
So then, what's the price for this ?
2000 yuan, all included
Really all included
The cost of photocopies, translations, certifications, photographs, medical check-up, test and driving license is included in the 2000 yuan we ask, as well as the complete listing of the 1500 possible questions for the test (with their answers, of course), in english, french, spanish, russian or japanese.
Transportation to the examination center will remain at your charge.
For some languages your help will be needed for the translation.
A few tips :
- memorize as much as possible the different questions and their answers. There's a few contradictions throughout the list and the answers depend only on the small differences in the questions...
- sometimes you'll find the requested answers are not correct... those are translation mistakes, you have to answer exactly as shown in the list
- Those who speak english should use the english list. Though mistakes are numerous, the text remains comprehensible while the french list is complete gibberish (thus impossible to memorize). I have not tried the other languages but I'm afraid it will be the same...
